A fine reference project
At 126 m, the Prime Tower is one of the tallest buildings in Zurich. Many thanks to our partner Bosch Switzerland for the look behind the scenes and for the chance to see our palm vein scanners at work. Seeing more than 100 palm vein scanners in service, used for several thousand bookings every day, stands for what our products can do and how dependable they are.
Innovation and a passion for biometric access control
The majority of companies in Hesse — 99 per cent of them — are small and medium-sized businesses. Among them are many little-known firms that have become market leaders with unusual products.
From a report in the Offenbach-Post on medium-sized companies in Hesse, which also features our palm vein scanners.
Why use the palm vein as a biometric trait?
Did you know that the palm vein, as a biometric trait, is not genetically inherited and is therefore independent of DNA? Unlike many other biometric traits it is an entirely random pattern. That is where the high distinctiveness of palm vein biometrics comes from.
- The palm vein trait sits embedded inside the hand.
- It therefore cannot be left behind by accident, the way a fingerprint is left on a glass.
- Nor can it be copied from a distance, the way an ordinary photograph of an iris or a finger can.
- It is not used in forensics and is not held on file by any authority (as far as we know).
- Contactless in principle, hygienic and non-invasive.
- Currently the most secure of all biometric systems.
- Fast, in identification mode as well.
- Different characteristics even in identical twins.
- Different characteristics in a person’s two hands.
- A trait free of any criminal connotation.
- Unchanged from birth to death.
- Encryption from the sensor all the way into the database.
- BSI-certified.
ScanVein Compact — a new member of the iCOGNIZE product family
We are pleased to announce the introduction of the ScanVein Compact (SVC) — our new biometric palm vein scanner.
Whether it is access control in critical infrastructure, office buildings, coworking spaces or private property: like every one of our products, the ScanVein Compact integrates into almost any existing security system.
The SVC already carries the new 2CON transmission technology. It is a “network without network cabling” — polarity-tolerant two-wire long-distance communication including power supply. This technology will be used in all our new products from now on.
The SVC is secure and easy to use:
- It is based on PalmSecure technology — a system for palm vein recognition that is next to impossible to forge.
- It can be operated without contact, so no potentially contaminated surfaces are touched.
- Where hand rests are used, automatic UVC disinfection of the rests is possible.
- Data security through encrypted communication from the scanner to the far end.
iCOGNIZE — products and solutions made in Germany
In August the “Made in Germany” mark turns 134. German products are export successes, and small and medium-sized companies have always benefited from that. iCOGNIZE has been committed to that standard since the day it was founded, and stands for it with its products. Over the coming weeks we will round out our portfolio with new products. Stay curious!
ZIM funding for iCOGNIZE
We are proud that our research and development work has been granted funding, and with it important support in carrying out our innovation strategy.
The Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) is a nationwide funding programme open to all technologies and sectors. Its purpose is to strengthen the innovative capacity, and with it the competitiveness, of medium-sized companies on a lasting basis. It is meant to contribute to economic growth, in particular by opening up value-creation potential and raising the level of applicable knowledge.
Growth stage funding at iCOGNIZE GmbH
The innovation leader for biometric access control in the Rhine-Main region sets out on a further path of expansion, with funding in the millions.
Green IT and access control
Green IT refers to efforts to make the use of information and communication technology gentle on the environment and on resources, across its entire life cycle.
Our products, too, were developed to meet those requirements. Our palm vein scanners work without contact and without RFID cards, and the built-in proximity sensor lets us cut power consumption. Our claim is to look at innovation always with an eye on conserving resources.
A new partnership
We are pleased to have gained a professional and innovative partner for our products and solutions in SecurityAccess GmbH of Lanzenkirchen. Creating security solutions tailored to the customer is what drives us both. Harald Thuner and his team will gladly put their expertise at your disposal.
iCOGNIZE joins the Legic network
We have recently become a partner in the Legic ID network, and our micro-site within that network is now online. It is a network of more than 300 partner companies in which countless specialists work on a wide range of systems and applications for enterprises, smart cities, mobility and the IoT. We look forward to developing and exchanging valuable skills, expertise and ideas through an active exchange of knowledge and synergies.
